Is the internet a game changer? Evidence and outlook on the futures of drug policy, prevention and psychedelic science
In this presentations I will discuss the role oft he internet and technological progress in general for fields as different as drug policy, prevention and psychedelic science. First data from a citizen science project with the user platform psychonaut.wiki will be presented and highlight the ways in which different groups of users make use of the internet to access information about psychoactive substances and inform their decision making. Which possibilities for prevention come with those internet practices and technologies? And how could drug policy react to such new developments? In a second example I will discuss the development of online drug video channels on YouTube that publicly present people taking psychoactive substances on the internet.
Taking those examples as a starting point I will discuss the role of the internet and digitial technologies for the future of drug policy, prevention and psychedelic science in particular. In this presentations I will discuss the role oft he internet and technological progress in general for fields as different as drug policy, prevention and psychedelic science.
